Description of Lagoinha (Brazil)
Lagoinha, located in the state of Ceará, Brazil, is recognized for its distinctive red sand dunes. While the kiting conditions directly in the bay can be challenging due to gusty winds and difficult launching situations, there are decent small to medium waves and smoother conditions to be found further away from the bay. The beach widens at low tide, facilitating kite launches. For improved kiting experiences, many kitesurfers travel downwind to Lagoa dos Jegues, also referred to as Donkey Kite Lagoon. This lagoon is particularly suitable for beginners and those who prefer flat water, being shallow and unaffected by tides.
The best wind direction is from the east, featuring a mix of thermal and trade winds. The ideal kiting season spans the entire year, with the most favorable months being July to December. Basic amenities such as food, showers, and toilets are available; however, kitesurfers should be mindful of non-kite zones and a construction site that may require careful navigation.
