Description of Leucate Goulet (France)
The beach of Goulet faces the internal salty lagoon of Leucate. It consists of a long stretch of sand that is not very large but still enough to set kites and launch.
The kite spot is historically a windsurfing playground, so there are unmarked areas for both windsurfing and kitesurfing equipment. It is always good to show a bit of consideration and give space to the windsurfers and ride in empty areas, since the lagoon is pretty large
The wind here is amplified by the venturi effect posed by the two sides of the lagoon and can reach speeds up to 30 knots, the downside is it usually is pretty gusty, especially from the north.
The water conditions are pretty flat or small choppy according to the position where you are riding and the wind direction.
The best months of the year are March, April, and July to October.
