Description of Prassonissi - Rhodes (Greece)
Prassonissi is for sure one of Europe's kitesurfing hotspots in the long Greek Summer. The Venturi effect between the main island the Prasonissi rock makes it the windiest spot in all Rhodes. Here in fact you can count at least with 3 to 5 knots more than the rest of the island. Another incredible characteristic consists in having 2 'seas' available, thanks to the long sandy stretch that connects Prassonissi to the mainland. Due to this particularity, it offers a wave spot upwind and a completely flat spot downwind of the sandy beach. The spot offers its best in Summer from June to September, when the Meltemi wind hits best. It can become really crowded and the flatwater side has offshore wind. It used to be a rescue service, but lately, it was not available anymore. These conditions make this spot advisable for intermediate riders and above, while beginners should probably look for some other spots on the island's west coast.

Other info
On no wind days, it is really worth paying a visit to the rest of the island. The capital is full of history and places for sightseeing. A mention is deserved by Lindos, a cozy white houses village on the east coast, dominated by a beautiful acropolis. Since it is 30 min drive, Lindos is worth visiting even for a nice dinner after a kiting day in Prassonissi.
