Description of El Cujo (Mexico)
El Cuyo is a fishermen’s village situated in Yucatan, Mexico next to the Rio Lagartos National Reserve. It is only 2 hours drive from Cancun or Tulum, and 2.5 hours driving from Playa del Carmen and Merida. The Spot is characterized by turquoise blue shallow waters and white sand beaches. In the surroundings, you can spot marine birds and pink flamingos, sea turtles, and a small lighthouse above Mayan ruins. Wind averages between 10 and 25 Knots and even when forecast isn't great you can find kiting conditions due to thermal effects.

How to get There
From Cancun: Cancun-Villadolid, exit 180D to Qroo 5 to Kantunilkin, then follow for Colonia Yucacatan. In colonia Yucatan follow for El Cujo From Playa del Carmen: take 305D and when reached the Cancun-Villadolid follow the same directions From Tulum: head for Coba on the 109 until Ignacio Zaragoza, then follow for Popolnah an then Colonia Yucatan to El Cujo

The spot has many accesses along the long beach. El Cujo is truly a kitesurfing paradise, with shallow waters, steady side shore wind, wide and empty beaches, ideal for downwinders, and beginners.
