Description of Holbox Sand Bank (Mexico)

Amazing kite spot with a natural sandbank which creates a flatwater lagoon, a few minutes' walk North East from Holbox Town center, along the white sandy beach.

The kite spot starts at the end of the village after the hotel Las Nubes and Chaac Mall. Plenty of space to set up the kites on the beach and launch them. The sandbank forms a sort of natural pool with perfect flat water fit for a few kites, but also beyond the sandbank, in the open, the water gets a little choppy and easy for beginners.

The wind is thermal and it is generated mostly in fall/winter/spring time when the difference of temperature between the sea and the internal land peaks.
