Description of Akyaka (Turkey)
Akyaka is one of the world's most windproof kite spots. Every day around 11 a thermal wind starts which typically lasts until late afternoon or sunset. Since the wind is thermal, it does NOT appear on weather forecasts and even if it can blow more than 10m/s, it will not appear on a weather forecast. The wind is mostly steady, consistent, and not gusty. Akyaka is known as one of the best beginner spots in all of Europe. This is, among other things, due to onshore winds and a nice sandy bottom you can walk for about 150m out. Akyaka also creates the ideal conditions for the seasoned kitesurfer with world-class conditions for foil, freeride, and freestyle.
