The Kite School

Valampuri Kitesurfing Resort is a family-owned hotel and kite center located on the Kalpitiya Lagoon in northwest Sri Lanka, set within a large coconut plantation. The resort grounds include expansive gardens and open spaces, offering guests a private and peaceful environment. The accommodations are primarily chalets, built using local materials such as wood and coconut leaves, following traditional methods.


The resort’s on-site restaurant serves Sri Lankan cuisine, focusing on locally sourced, fresh ingredients, including seafood from the nearby fishing village. Some Western and vegan options are also available. Guests can also enjoy the large swimming pool, which includes a jacuzzi, and a pool bar offering refreshments like the Lime and Mint, a favorite among visitors. The resort provides kitesurfing courses designed for various skill levels, with instruction by experienced staff, making use of the lagoon’s conditions ideal for both beginners and advanced kitesurfers.

School's Services and Amenities

Valampuri kite resort is affiliated with the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO), providing kitesurfers with services such as individual kitesurfing Lessons, and group kitesurfing Lessons.

Valampuri kite resort is also the only school registered with Kitesurf Culture in the area of kalpitiya (Sri Lanka) to offer kiteboarding gear rental, equipment storage, organization of downwind tours, stand up paddle boards rentals, accommodation directly at the school or in close premises, restaurant in or close to the school, and free wifi.
