Description of Boracay White Beach (Philippines)

White Beach, located on the western side of Boracay, is a picturesque and popular destination known primarily for its stunning sunsets, powdery white sand, and lively beachfront atmosphere. While it is more famous for its tourism and nightlife than kitesurfing, White Beach transforms into a kitesurfing spot during the Habagat season (June to October). During this time, the wind shifts from the Amihan direction to the southwest, making White Beach the go-to kiting location on the island..

Unlike Bulabog Beach, White Beach does not have a reef-protected lagoon, so the water tends to be slightly choppier. There are no major wave breaks, but the conditions can be unpredictable depending on wind strength and tide levels. The wind is cross-onshore or onshore during the Habagat season, which can be more challenging for beginners. Intermediate and advanced riders, however, can enjoy long rides along the expansive beach..

White Beach is approximately 4 km long, providing plenty of room for launching kites during low tide. However, it’s essential to be mindful of tourists, as the beach can get crowded during peak hours. Kitesurfing at White Beach is best done early in the morning or late in the afternoon when there are fewer beachgoers..

Due to its popularity with tourists, kitesurfing schools and rentals are more limited compared to Bulabog Beach. However, equipment can be rented or brought over from the eastern side of the island. The social scene on White Beach is vibrant, offering an array of restaurants, bars, and accommodations right on the beachfront. After a kitesurfing session, many riders enjoy grabbing drinks at one of the numerous beach bars while watching the island’s iconic sunset.

Although kitesurfing is allowed at White Beach, riders should exercise caution due to the number of tourists and swimmers in the area. Local rules may require kiters to stay in designated sections to avoid accidents..

Dangers

White Beach is Boracay’s most popular beach and can be crowded, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Kitesurfing during the middle of the day is often tricky due to the number of beachgoers and swimmers, so it’s best to kite early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Fishermen and touristic boats: there is the presence of a lot of boats long the beach and that needs to be taken in consideration.

Local regulations: Riders may be restricted to certain sections of the beach to minimize interference with swimmers and tourists. Check with locals

How to get There

White Beach is the main hub of Boracay and is easily accessible from Caticlan or Kalibo airports. From Caticlan, a 15-minute boat ride takes you to Boracay, followed by a short tricycle ride to the beachfront. If flying into Kalibo, expect a 2-hour bus or van ride to Caticlan before boarding the boat. Once on the island, White Beach is divided into three stations: Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. Kitesurfing is best done closer to Station 3, where there are fewer tourists.
