Description of Los Genoveses (Spain)

Los Genoveses is a beach located inside the Natual Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar. It is a long stripe of sand going north-south facing the Mediterranean Sea in the east direction, therefore the spot is suitable for the "Levante" wind that blows quite often, especially in the winter, spring, and fall (in the case of the west wind of 'Poniente' the closest spot is Retamar). During winter time the wind can become really strong and in these conditions, the spot should be approached only by experts. The rest of the year it is a great playground for all levels. The space on the sandy beach is huge and you can easily launch and land your kite. During summer months (end of June to mid of September) the beach is overcrowded by beach users and is not allowed to kite (though also the wind is mostly absent). waves can go from small to medium size according to the wind conditions and directions.

How to get There

From Almeria drive east until entering the National Park. Follow for San Jose and from there you will find a dirt road that leads directly to the spot

Access

Public, though in high season it needs to be paid an access fee

What to do besides kitesurfing

San Jose is the nearest village where you can find accommodations and restaurants of any type, though being a bit touristy prices are averagely higher than the surrounding area. Almeria has it all including great tapas places
