Australia is a bucket-list destination for kiters who want space, variety, and world-class wind without the crowds found in more concentrated kite hubs. The country offers an enormous range of conditions across its coastline — from the strong, reliable "Fremantle Doctor" thermal winds of Western Australia to the flat, turquoise lagoons of Exmouth and the wild, remote wave spots of the Gold Coast and Tasmania. It's less about one signature spot and more about a road-trip culture: many kiters rent a van or car and chase wind and scenery along hundreds of kilometers of coastline. Wildlife, laid-back beach towns, and genuinely uncrowded water are big draws.

Pros: Huge variety of conditions — flat water, waves, and everything in between. Extremely consistent thermal winds in WA during summer (the "Doctor" is famous for its reliability). Cons: It's a long, expensive flight for most of the world, and distances between spots within Australia are also large. Cost of living, food, and accommodation are high compared to most other kite destinations. Best wind season is tied to the Southern Hemisphere summer (November-March), which is off-season for many travelers' usual calendars. Some remote spots require serious self-sufficiency (fuel, water, no phone signal)
