Go kiting to Mexico: Why choose this country?

Mexico is an exceptional kitesurfing destination for riders who want to combine reliable riding conditions with extraordinary culture, landscapes and food. Its enormous coastline stretches from the warm Caribbean waters of the Yucatán Peninsula to the Pacific Ocean and the remote deserts of Baja California, creating an impressive variety of wind and water conditions. Popular kite regions include Yucatán, the Riviera Maya, La Ventana and the Baja California peninsula, with everything from shallow flat-water locations to open-ocean riding.

The country's geographical diversity means that different regions offer very different kitesurfing experiences. The Caribbean side provides warm turquoise water, sandy beaches and protected bays, while Baja California is famous for its dry, dramatic landscapes and strong winter winds. La Ventana in particular has become an important destination for wind sports, offering consistent seasonal conditions and a relaxed international kite community.

Away from the water, Mexico is almost impossible to exhaust. Ancient Mayan and Aztec sites, colonial towns, cenotes, tropical forests, deserts, coral reefs and spectacular marine life provide endless opportunities between sessions. Add some of the world's most recognisable cuisine, vibrant local culture and a huge variety of landscapes, and Mexico becomes much more than a kite trip—it is a destination where almost any type of traveller can build an adventure around kitesurfing.

Pros: Mexican food is fantastic. Mexican people are kind and accommodating in all your interactions. It is inexpensive, compared to the USA and Europe. Touristic areas are normally very safe.

Cons: Even though nature is lush, pay attention in many places you can find yourself in polluted areas (especially close to big cities or crowded touristic venues). Tap water has a high bacterial load, and you need to drink only bottled water. Some areas of the country are dangerous and you want to stay far from them.
