Description of Frassanito (Italy)
A long stripe of coast between Frassanito and the private club Voi Alimini is one of the most popular kite spots in the Salento's hot summers. The kitesurfing spot works with both north wind (Tramontana) and south wind (Scirocco). The wind is steady and consistent, but when it becomes strong the conditions are good for experts. Crowded in summer months, especially August.

Shorty in the summertime, Wet suit all year round. Shoes recommended, not mandatory if you are an expert.
Many places have stones underwater, so at least for beginners, it is advisable to wear protective shoes. The beach in the summer months can be crowded with beach users, so pay attention and avoid any risky maneuver close to the shore. Coast guard is often around and is very prone to fine riders who go too close to the beach.
In the area, there is plenty to do on no windy days. Visit Lecce, Maglie, Otranto, Gallipoli: all Salento has so much to offer. A one-day trip from Otranto to Santa Maria di Leuca will drive you through a mesmerizing coast that reminds from close to the Amalfi coast. Lot's of restaurants all around the area. Just pick one.
How to get There
Drive from Lecce towards Otranto. Once arrived in Otranto head north along the coastal road and you will find 2 main accesses to the beach. One going through the Alimini touristic villages road, accessible to external visitors. The second following a cuople more kilometers to north the road and turn towards Frassanito, then pass the local camping and reach the beach
Access to the spot is granted due to Italian rules, so passing through the private parkin in Alimini resort to reach the beach is allowed. From Frassanito the public access has no problems.
